Megalithic Ruin
Stonehenge is a megalithic ruin that stands on Salisbury plain in Wiltshire. The great and ancient stone circle of Stonehenge is unique; an exceptional survival from a prehistoric culture now lost to us. The momument evolved between 3000BC and 16000BC and is aligned with the rising and setting of the sun at the solstices, but its exact purpose remains a mystery. To this day Stonehenge endures as a source of inspiration and fascination and, for many, a place of worship and celebration.
